Cumbria is a county in the north west of England containing the Lake District (or Lake District National Park, to give it its full title. Cumbria contains England’s highest mountain (Scafell Pike). Sitting at the foot of this is England’s deepest lake (Wastwater) which was also voted the country’s best view in a TV series.

Cumbria continues to the Scottish border and is bordered to the east by Northumberland and to the south by Lancashire. It’s main industry is tourism with millions attracted throughout the year for its outstanding beauty and tranquillity. In many villages there are now local residency rules to disallow people buying up properties as holiday homes and pushing prices beyond the reach of local people.
